A Lifetime of Learning Starts Here.

A safe place to learn and have fun.

Finding a safe, enriching place around school hours is easy when parents look to the Ska:na Family Learning Centers. We have created an engaging environment where children can spend time with friends before and after school. And to make it convenient for you, we also provide transportation to and from neighborhood schools, or in some situations are located within the schools. Our centers also align with year-round school calendars. Plus we offer fun-filled programs during holidays, no-school days and other school breaks.

Our school-age program acknowledges each child as an individual with a variety of interests and needs. Each month focuses on a unique theme relevant to school-age interests. These theme-related activities are more than fun-they also help children practice critical thinking skills, giving them confidence, creativity and self-expression.

Your School-Ager's Day

Activities in our school-age program are tailored to a camp or club environment, challenging each child with activities that are fun and stimulating. Kindergarten through sixth-grade children can choose something different to do every day. We offer a balance of organized activities, downtime and individual exploration. It is just what they need to unwind and stretch their minds and muscles.

Activity Areas

Children play games, participate in science experiments, enjoy music, create arts and crafts, play outdoors and more.

Quiet Areas

We provide the perfect place to indulge in downtime. Children can choose to have a snack, read a book, do homework or explore their interests.

Homework Help

Our teachers provide homework assistance so you can enjoy more free time with your child in the evenings.

Scheduled Activities

We provide organized activities to fine-tune critical literacy skills, such as reading aloud or writing stories.

Active Learning

The cornerstone of the Ska:na approach to school age program is the belief that active learning is fundamental to the full development of human potential and that active learning occurs most effectively in settings that provide developmentally appropriate learning opportunities.

Children engage in educationally important learning tasks by participating in developmentally appropriate key experiences. In addition, children and teachers form an active learning partnership to support the children's development in significant areas of education and to support them as they engage in important social relations with other children and adults.

In all students, the Ska:na approach promotes independent thinking, active learning, a "can-do" attitude, and an active, inquisitive imagination. While each child will develop these attributes at different rates and in varying degrees, the Ska:na approach is designed to foster self-confidence and social competence in all children-skills that are necessary to function in today's society, where lifelong education, on-the-job training, teamwork, and problem solving are increasingly important.
